The 'I'iwi bird is a native Hawaiian bird and is currently listed as a threatened species. It can be found on the Big Island of Hawaii, Maui, and Kauai in the 'ohi'a lehua forests. Once a very common bird in Hawaii, the Hawaiian chiefs or Ali'i used their bright red feathers to adorn their capes. The bird is also an important figure in Hawaiian folklore. Currently, Rapid 'Ohi'a Death fungal disease is severely impacting the 'i'iwi because they rely on the flower's nectar as their main food source.
"'I'iwi" is an original watercolor painting measuring approximately 9"x12" and comes with a signed "Certificate of Authenticity" and packed in a clear sleeve with a backing board (unframed). Colors may vary slightly from monitor to monitor. This painting has a horizontal orientation.
